RALEIGH — North Stokes and Camden County will have to wait to throw the first pitch for Game 1.

The NCHSAA Class 1-A championship at Dail Softball Stadium on the campus of N.C. State was postponed until tomorrow (Saturday), with the first matchup of the best-of-3 series set for 2 p.m. Inclement weather spreading across the Research Triangle on Friday was the cause of the rescheduling of Game 1 between the Vikings (27-1) and the Bruins (26-1) — both top seeds.

Weather initially forced a delay during the Class 4-A championship, also taking place at Dail. No. 4 Wilmington Hoggard was to face No. 5 South Caldwell at 5 p.m., with North Stokes and Camden County to follow at 7:30 p.m.

After about an hour of play in the Class 4-A matchup, a tarp was laid across the diamond in the bottom of the third.

The Class 4-A matchup is scheduled for 11 a.m., with North Stokes and Camden County playing in the second game of the day. Both Class 4-A and 1-A will play two games today. Game 2 of Class 4-A is set for 5 p.m., with Class 1-A following at 8 p.m.
