Jose Duarte will be the head coach of the North Davidson girls soccer team, the school announced Monday on the athletics department's Twitter account.

Duarte replaces Scott Beckom, who has led the Black Knights since the 2017 season. Beckom is also the coach of the boys team and has been for two seasons.

Duarte was a hire already close with the program. He began his tenure with the Black Knights as an assistant in 2018. This past season ended at 15-7 overall and 13-5 within the Central Carolina 2-A — the team tied for third with Central Davidson in the conference standings. North Davidson lost in the second round of the NCHSAA Class 2-A playoffs to to Hendersonville on May 10.

Duarte is familiar with soccer in the Piedmont Triad. He previously coached with the Twin City Youth Soccer Association in Bermuda Run. Duarte began involvement with the program in 2010, before moving on to coach with the Davidson County Youth Soccer Association five years later.
