For the first time since 2001, Forsyth Country Day is the winner of the Wells Fargo Cup.

FCD received the award for its athletics accomplishments in NCISAA Class 3-A during the 2018-19 school year. The school previously won the Wells Fargo Cup in 1982, 2000 and 2001.

“At FCDS, we view athletics as a co-curricular activity that serves to further advance our mission of preparing students for what's ahead,” Athletics Director John Stubblefield of the Furies said. “Winning the Wells Fargo Cup is a tremendous achievement that recognizes our committed athletes, dedicated coaches, and supportive parents.”

The girls basketball team at FCD won the state championship. Other teams that placed well were soccer, softball, baseball, boys golf and the girls and boys teams for track and field.

The Wells Fargo Cup is given annually to schools in the NCHSAA and NCISAA for overall athletic excellence. Schools at all four levels of both athletic associations receive points in the fall, winter and spring seasons based on how their teams finish.

The Furies athletic program finished the school year with 527.5 points.
