The N.C. Softball Coaches Association revealed which players received all-district recognition, with several area standouts among them.
In District 5 — an area that is made up of Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Davidson, Forsyth, Guilford, Randolph, Rockingham and Stokes counties — for Class 4-A, Kennedy Southern of East Forsyth and West Forsyth’s Alex Rodriguez earned player and pitcher of the year honors, respectively. Kierston Deal, Alexis Joyce, Morgan Whitaker also represented the Eagles on the list. West Forsyth’s Brianna Lucero, Samantha Martin and Emily Mutter were named in Class 4-A as well.
In Class 2-A, North Davidson had seven players receive nods, including Regan Spencer, who was named the pitcher of the year. Haden Womble was named the district’s player of the year, as Lexi Bryant, Emma Frye, Bailey Leonard, Riley Lingerfelt and Foster Sharpe were also listed all-district.
Other teams represented from the Central Carolina 2-A included Ledford and Central Davidson. Kadyn Hedgecock, Sydnee Hilliard, Ivy Ray and Grace Smithson earned nods, along with Maddison Barton, Harker Jollay, Korina Lookabill, Paisley Tate and Salem Ward of Central Davidson. Several players from West Stokes were listed as well, including Tyler Bumgarner, Kaylee Hobgood, Faye Lawson, Allison Mabe, Allie Mendenhall, Tori Tucker and Hannah Woody.
In Class 1-A, Lora Wood of North Stokes was named player of the year. The Vikings’ Autumn Martin earned pitcher of the year. Carley Gravely, Reid Hawkins, Sierra Hubbard and Sydney Mabe of North Stokes also received all-district nods. South Stokes’ Kelsey Hawkins, Grace Mabe and Brandie Shelton were named as well.
In District 7 — which includes area counties of Alleghany, Wilkes, Ashe, Davie, Yadkin and Surry — Lauren Rakes of East Wilkes was player of the year in Class 1-A. Alleghany’s Kenzi Lyall earned pitcher of the year.
Taylor Allen, Haley Rife and Mackenzie Russell were also named all-district for the Trojans. East Wilkes’ Alexa Carter and Lyric Ryan earned recognition as well. East Surry had a lone player named — Allie Bruner.
In Class 2-A, Forbush’s Gracen Davis, Salem Finney, Sommer Gray, Macey Rycroft and Kayleigh Williams were listed. And in Class 4-A, Emma Patterson of Davie County was recognized as all-district.
