With a dominant offensive performance, the Winston-Salem Dash defeated the Salem Red Sox 9-3 and 7-2 on Tuesday in a doubleheader at BB&T Ballpark.
In the first game, the Dash scored their first runs in the bottom of the second inning on a homer to left field by catcher Carlos Perez, and a score by Zach Remillard, putting the Dash up 2-0.
Their lead was extended to 5-0 after a Red Sox error in the bottom of the third that lead to runs by Steele Walker and Jameson Fisher.
The Dash scored four more times throughout the bottom of the fourth, pushing the lead to 9-0 by the fifth.
The Red Sox's lone score of the night came on a homer by outfielder Victor Acosta, making the score 9-3.
Pitcher Jorgan Cavanerio (2-0) got the win for the Dash pitching six innings. Cavanerio allowed five hits, had three strikeouts, and ended his night with an ERA of 3.90.
Infielder Mitch Roman was 2-of-3 and scored twice, while Perez and Walker, 1-forf-3, and 2-for-4 respectively, both finished the game with two RBIs.
In the second game, the Dash scored two in the first, one in the third, and three more in the fourth, backing the sharp pitching of starter Jake Elliott and relievers Codi Heuer and Luis Ledo. Elliott picked up the win to improve to 4-1.
The Dash will be back in action for the final game of a three game series against the Red Sox today at 7.
