Winston-Salem State swept a doubleheader from Bluefield State on Saturday afternoon and Coach Kevin Ritsche earned his 300th career win along the way.

The Rams won the first game 5-1 and easily won the second game 14-7 at McCrary Park in Asheboro. Both games were seven innings.

In the second game, The Rams pounded out 13 hits with E.P. Reese, Kendal Tucker, Luke Spiva, Chris Shepherd and Nick Tiller each picking up two hits. Rese had a home run and three RBI’s.

Jalen Scott went four innings to pick up the win on the mound as he pitched four shutout innings with four strikeouts allowing just three hits.

Spiva, Shepherd and Joe Joplin each had two RBI’s for the Rams.

The two teams will play again on Sunday in a doubleheader in Bluefield, West Virginia. The Rams will play Concord on Tuesday in Mocksville at Rich Park.

For his nine seasons as head coach of the Rams, Ritsche has an overall record of 301-163.
