Germanton native Rebecca Davis explores the question of how a community moves on after tragedy in her novel “Amidst This Fading Light.” The book is loosely based on a family murder in 1929 that shocked residents in Stokes, Forsyth and surrounding counties.

The Stokes County Arts Council will host Davis for a book reading and signing at 3 p.m. today, Feb. 10, at the Arts Place of Stokes, 502 Main St., Danbury.

Davis is an assistant professor of creative writing at Salem College and holds degrees from Wake Forest University and UNC Greensboro. Inspired by the gruesome murder that occurred near her hometown of Germanton, she began writing the novel while in college and published the book in 2018 on SFK Press.

Admission is free. The book will be for sale. For information, visit www.stokesarts.org or call 336-593-8159.
