TOBACCOVILLE Jul 2, 1959 - Mar 23, 2019 James A. (Jamey) Hughes Jr., age 59, of the village of Tobaccoville, NC, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 23, 2019 at his home. Jamey was born in Greenwood, SC to James A. Hughes, Sr. and Alice Stroud Hughes. He grew up in Ware Shoals, SC and graduated from Ware Shoals High School and Lander University in Greenwood, SC. He worked his entire career in finance for both the textile and furniture industries. He was a truly kind, compassionate and loving person who was devoted to his family and friends. He never met a stranger and had the ability to relate to people from all walks of life. He was a lifetime sportsman with a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed many years of duck hunting with the dogs he raised and trained. He also enjoyed deer hunting and all types of fishing, especially trout fishing in the Great Smoky Mountain streams. Jamey loved his family dearly, and was loved dearly by them. His greatest joy in life was his son James. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him and loved him. May we all find peace accepting that God's timing is perfect. Jamey is survived by his wife of 35 years, Tracy T. Hughes, and their son James Ambler Hughes, III; his parents James (Jim) and Alice Hughes of Ware Shoals, SC; his sister, Rhetta Hughes and her husband Derrick Slack of Ninety Six, SC; his in-laws Bill and Maggie Traynham of Danville, VA, Missy and Gerald Mayfield of Greenwood, SC and Beth Traynham of Salley, SC, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 30th at 4:00 p.m. at Blyth Funeral Home, 1425 Montague Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29649. The family will receive friends following the service. A second memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6th at 2:00 p.m. at his home church, Kingswood UMC, Rural Hall, NC with visitation following the service.
