Brown, Gloria ¿Dah Dah¿ Crouse

WINSTON-SALEM March 14, 1927 - Dec. 17, 2018 Mrs. Gloria "Dah Dah" Crouse Brown, 91, of Winston-Salem, daughter of the late T.R. "Ross" and Maude Howard Crouse of Winston-Salem, entered Heaven's gates on December 17, 2018. From her birth on March 14, 1927 to her death, she nourished those around her with love, strong faith and a warm spirit. Native to Winston-Salem, she worked and later retired from Hanes Knitting after graduating from Reynolds High School. Upon retiring, she studied business at Draughon Business College and worked for Pinkerton Security before becoming a full-time grandmother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought immeasurable joy to her life, and she treasured the moments with them. Gloria married Bobby Lee Brown from East Bend in August 1952, and their joyous union welcomed two daughters. Bobby and Gloria enjoyed travelling together, and she loved sharing her travel adventures, especially their trip to Hawaii. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers she grew, touching the lives of many through her organ music at church and teaching Sunday School. Along with her devoted family and faith, her life's love was the Atlanta Braves. Games would echo throughout her house with top highlights recapped over her phone. Her beautiful life will be forever cherished by daughter René Black; grandchildren: Matthew (Miriam) Black, Meagan Verdi, Jonathan (Carey) Black, Bethany (James) Bryson; great-grandchildren: Emma and Wyatt Black, Cole Bryson; sisters Goldie Hicks, Catherine Cook, Helen VanHorne; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Welcoming her into heaven include her husband, Bobby Lee Brown, daughter Theresa Hutchings, and brother Howard Crouse. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Salem Funeral Home on Reynolda Road in Winston-Salem with Rev. Frank Shumate officiating.
