A teen who died 10 days ago was shot once in the leg, police said today.

William Charles Simons Jr., 16, of the 4000 block of Oak Ridge Drive, was a student at North Forsyth High. He was at an apartment at 5013 Eltha Drive on Nov. 18 about 3:05 a.m. when he was shot, said Sgt. Gregory Dorn. The bullet pierced his femoral artery.

Although he was taken to the hospital, he died from his wound.

Simons was with his girlfriend at the apartment at the time of the shooting, as well as with a friend of theirs, Dorn said.

"It looks accidental," he said of the shooting. "There's no indication of foul play."

It's unclear who owned the gun.

Dorn said police are continuing to investigate the case. Police have previously said no persons of interest are being sought.
