Someone called in a threat to the Forsyth County Hall of Justice around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, prompting an evacuation of the building.
The evacuation ended and people re-entered the courthouse around 3:30 p.m.
The threat was general and did not target any specific person, the sheriff's office said in a statement.
After the threat was assessed, the decision to evacuate was made "out of an abundance of caution," the sheriff's office said.
An investigation is ongoing in conjunction with the Winston-Salem Police and Fire departments.
