GREENSBORO — A man died Friday morning in one of two, separate overnight shootings.

Police spokesman Ron Glenn identified the victim in the fatal shooting as 28-year-old Steven Anthony George.

Officers responded at 2:54 a.m. Friday to a reported shooting at 1814 Woodmere Drive and found George suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics took him to an area hospital where he died.

A juvenile at home during the shooting was unharmed and is now in the care of family, police said.

George's death marks the city's 17th homicide this year.

Police do not have information about the suspect or a motive at this time.

Glenn said police don't believe the Woodmere shooting is connected to an earlier shooting that injured another man on Tomahawk Drive.

Officers responded at 11:04 p.m. to reports of a shooting near a park and found one man with gunshot wounds, police said in a release. He was stable with serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital, police said.
