Two groups of people exchanged gunfire Tuesday at Rupert Bell Park at 1501 Mount Zion Place, but no injuries were reported, authorities said.

The incident happened at 5:37 p.m. when an argument began between a group of people in a vehicle on the street and another group at the park, police Lt. Todd Hart said.

"As a result of that, they started firing at each other," Hart said.

No one was hit by gunfire, but bullets struck several parked vehicles and a concrete wall in the area, Hart said. The people who fired the shots left the scene.

Officers found no one wounded at the park and didn't receive any reports of anyone being treated for gunshot wounds at local hospitals, Hart said.

The Winston-Salem Police Department's street-crimes unit is investigating the incident.

Hart said he was uncertain whether officers had arrested anyone Wednesday night.
