A police car was intentionally rammed Wednesday morning by a person officers were watching, police said.

Officers were conducting surveillance about 9 a.m. in the 400 block of Beaumont Street for a man wanted by police. They declined to say what the person was wanted for.

When officers tried to take the man into custody he got into a white Dodge Charger and intentionally rammed a police car with an officer inside, police said. A chase began on a charge of assault on a government official.

The chase began on Beaumont Street, and continued to Ebert Road and Oak Grove Road. Officers lost sight of the vehicle and ended the chase, police said.

Police are still searching for the suspect and are not releasing the wanted man's name or the names of the officers involved.

There were no injuries reported, police said. No other vehicles were damaged in the chase.
