Robbers fire gun, run off after clerk pulls out gun
Two men robbing the JB Food Mart on Wednesday fired a shot at an employee, but ran off when another worker pulled out his own gun, according to Winston-Salem police.
No one was injured in the 1:25 p.m. incident at the store at 4815 Old Rural Hall Road, according to a news release from police.
The men, both of whom had guns, approached the cash register and demanded money from the clerk, the release stated.
One suspect then fired in the direction of a second employee standing nearby, but did not hit the worker. The clerk then retrieved a gun and pointed it at the suspects, who ran from the business, according to the release.

Thomasville man charged in Winston-Salem bank robbery
Winston-Salem police charged a Thomasville man in connection with the robbery of a Wells Fargo bank on Country Club Road last week.
Robert Anthony Edwards, 58, is charged with common law robbery in connection with the Jan. 19 incident at 2:10 p.m. at 4626 Country Club Road, the Winston-Salem Police Department said.
Edwards, of White Street in Thomasville, was taken into custody Tuesday night at the Public Safety Center without incident. He is being held in the Forsyth County Jail with his bond set at $20,000.
Edwards is accused of entering the bank and demanding money from a teller, according to police. An undisclosed amount of money was taken, police said.
No injuries were reported.
