Elkin police charged two people, one of them a teenager, Friday in connection with an April traffic crash that left two people dead, saying the suspects were racing when they crashed into the victims' car.
Marshall Logan Irvin, 17, of Roaring River was charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of Glen Renrick Knutt and Russell Knutt, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Elkin police said. Irvin also was charged with spontaneous speed competition, speeding 114 mph in a 55-mph zone and careless and reckless driving, police said.
Michael Lee Beck, 26, of Elkin was charged with two counts of aiding and abetting second-degree murder, spontaneous speed competition, speeding 83 mph in a 55-mph zone and careless and reckless driving, police said.
Glen Knutt and Russell Knutt were turning into a Speedway gas station on C.C. Camp Road in Elkin on April 20 when their car was struck by another vehicle.
Irvin and Beck were being held Friday in the Surry County Jail in Dobson with the bonds set at $300,000 each, police said.
