First Christian Church, 2320 Country Club Road, welcomes David Harrison Jr. as the church’s new senior pastor.

Lyons, the former pastor at St. James and the current pastor of Mount Zion AME Church in Hillsborough. Following the worship service, the Rev. Shelton T. Miles, the pastor of St. James, will rededicate the Finance Room in memory of Sister Sandra H. Lomax, who died in July 2018. She was an appointed steward and member of the Finance Committee for more than 40 years.

Shallowford Presbyterian Church, 1200 Lewisville-Clemmons Road, Clemmons, and UNC School of the Arts, will begin the 32nd season of Shallowford Series Concerts at 3 p.m. Sunday. The concert, “A Mixed Bag,” will feature violists performing works by Frank Bridge, Georg Philipp Telemann, Paul Hindemith and Franz Schubert. All performers are students of UNCSA viola professor Ulrich Eichenauer. The concert is free, and a reception will follow.

Calvary Moravian Church, 600 Holly Ave., will have the Westminster Concert Bell Choir, conducted by Kathleen Ebling Shaw at 7 p.m. Friday. The concert is “The Four Seasons.” Donations will be accepted for admission.


Rural Hall Moravian Church, 7939 Broad St., Rural Hall, will hold the third annual Hearts for Paws fundraiser for the Stokes County Humane Society. It will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.
