St. Peter’s Church and World Outreach Center, 3683 Old Lexington Road, will host the 2019 Prayer Conference, Jan. 2 through Jan. 4 on the St. Peter’s campus. The theme of the conference is “Strong Prayer in Modern Times.” Special guest speakers will be Pastor Michael Todd of the Transformation Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bishop Gary McIntosh, the founding pastor of Transformation Church, currently serves as the church overseer. St. Johns Lutheran Church, 2415 Silas Creek Parkway, will have a Cancer Companions group that will meet at 2 p.m. Jan. 13 for a prayer service. There will be a devotional time at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 21. This is a support group for people with cancer and their caregivers.


The Atkins High School Class of 1971 will have its rescheduled Holiday Concert, featuring Atkins alumni Eddie Bines, Jr. (baritone), Raymond O’Neal (tenor) and Marion “Pete” Thomas (organist), at 4 p.m. Sunday at Shiloh Baptist Church, 916 E. 12th St. Admission is free.

Watch Night and New Year’s Eve Services

Meadowview Baptist Church, 105 Nathan Ave., will have its 24th annual New Year’s Eve Watch Night Service at 7 p.m. Monday. There will be a break for food and fellowship.
