Forsyth Community Gardening will have “The Dirt on Compost,” a workshop on composting from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Simon’s Green Acre Community Garden, 1922 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Winston-Salem.

Participants will learn how to turn kitchen and yard waste into a valuable soil amendment for gardens at this hands-on workshop. Speakers will discuss what to compost, how to construct and maintain a compost pile, and how to use the finished product. They will also demonstrate how to build a compost bin from wood pallets. Bring a lawn chair.
