Les Cadrans de Lessegue

Here's a handful of wines I've tasted recently, starting with my favorites:

--Les Cadrans de Lassegue 2014 St. Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux, France, $30. Blueberry, earth and spice aromas. Blackberry, plum, spice and a touch of mineral on the medium-bodied palate. Well-balanced. 90% merlot, 10% cabernet franc. Very good.

--Bouchaine 2018 Vin Gris de Pinot Noir, Napa Valley and Carneros, Ca., $29. Floral, peach, orange, mineral. Very good.

--Pombal do Vesuvio 2015 Douro, Portugal, $28. Earth, black cherry, blackberry. Firm tannins. Good structure, lingering finish. Very good.

--Ravenswood 2015 Belloni Single Vineyard Zinfandel, Russian River Valley, Ca., $39. Raspberry, blueberry and blackberry aromas. Blackberry, tobacco, earth and brambles on the palate. Good plus.

--Domaine Bousquet 2017 Chardonnay, Mendoza, Argentina, $18. Tropical and apple aromas, citrus on the palate. A good balance of fruit and oak spice. Made with organic grapes. Good plus.

--Frescobaldi 2017 Alie Ammiraglia Rose, Tuscany, Italy, $21. Bright cherry/strawberry, herbal, mineral, touches of peach and grapefruit. Good acidity. Good plus.

--Lamole di Lamole 2015 Chianti Classico, Italy, $20. Black cherries, herbs and pepper; a bit savory and rustic. Well-structured, medium tannins. Good plus.

--Sassoregale 2016 Sangiovese Maremma Toscana, Italy, $14. Well-balanced, with cherries, herbs and earth. Good plus.

--Canned Oregon Rose, Oregon, $7 for a 375-ml can. Strawberry and melon aromas and flavors, with a touch of grapefruit. Good plus.

-- Canned Oregon Pinot Gris, Oregon, $7 for a 375-ml can. Fruity, with melon and a touch of fig aroma. Fairly dry on the palate, with good balance. Good plus.

--Amble + Chase 2018 Rose, Provence, France, $210 for 4-pack of 250-ml cans. Aromatic, floral, mineral and strawberry. A light but well-done rose. Good plus.

--Yalumba 2018 Sangiovese Rose, South Australia, $14. Cherries, blossoms s, nectarine, quite dry. Good.

--Yalumba 2018 Barossa Grenache, Australia, $21. Cherry and pepper aromas and flavors, easy-drinking and light in body, making it a suitable red for summer fare – could even be chilled a bit. Good.

--Beringer 2016 Bourbon Barrel Aged Chardonnay, Ca., $17. Tropical, oak spice aromas. Creamy vanilla, apples and tropical fruit on the buttery palate, but still fresh. Good plus.

--Kris 2018 Rose, Veneto, Italy, $15. Strawberry aromas, touch of peach. Crisp acidity. Good.

--Tournon 2018 Mathilda Grenache Rose, Victoria, Australia, $18. Cherry aroma, and a bit earthy/peppery, minerals. Medium acidity. A Michel Chapoutier estate. Good.

--Lasorda 2016 Chardonnay, Ca., $20. Apple, citrus, lemongrass, oak spice, and a bit of creaminess. Good.

--Canned Oregon Pinot Noir, Oregon, $7 for a 375-ml can. Sweet cherry cola aroma and flavors. OK.

--Flat Top Hills Sauvignon Blanc, Ca., $14. Aromatic with grass and citrus. Decent flavor and acidity, short finish. OK.
