Seely McMillan Stephenson and Bowman James Nicholson, both of Raleigh, were married at 5:45 p.m. at The Graystone Inn in Roaring Gap on Sept. 29, 2018. The Rev. Greg Jones officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Cowell Stephenson IV. Her maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. James Carlton Eller of Winston-Salem. Her paternal grandparents are Ann Fichtenger Stephenson of Roanoke, VA and the late William Cowell Stephenson III. The bride graduated from North Cross School in Roanoke, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in International and Global Studies from Sewanee - University of the South in Tennessee. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from Meredith College in Raleigh. The bride is an interior designer at Elaine Stephenson Interiors of Roanoke and is based in Raleigh.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Bateman Nicholson of Raleigh. His maternal grandparents are the late Francis Weaver Snow Oddenino and the late Bowman Franklin Snow. The groom’s paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gilliam Nicholson. He graduated from the University of Georgia, Terry College of Business and is a financial planner.
The bride was escorted by her father. The matron of honor was Sallie Routh Gallagher.
The bride wore an ivory silk crepe gown by Alyne of Toronto. It featured an illusion neckline with appliques of French Alençon lace that cascaded along the bodice, sheath-style skirt and chapel length train. She wore her mother’s long veil of Belgian lace.
The best man was the groom’s father.
Elizabeth Blake Bostic was the flower girl.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Graystone Inn in Roaring Gap.
The rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom’s parents, was held at Lake Louise in Roaring Gap.
Following a honeymoon trip to Greece, the couple will live in Raleigh.
