Charles (Charlie) and Dorothy (Dot) Freeman of Winston-Salem celebrated their 65th anniversary March 2, 2019 with a dinner and dance at Forsyth Country Club in Winston-Salem.
The couple’s children and their spouses are Vickie and Jay Luke, and Ladd and Janet Freeman, all of Winston-Salem.
Their grandchildren and spouses are Liz and Shawn Buchanan, Catherine and Justin Green, Charlie and Kaitlyn Freeman, Jimmy Luke, Anne Luke, and Sarah Wells Luke.
Mr. Freeman owned Freeman Commercial Real Estate, now owned by Ladd Freeman and Jay Luke. Grandchildren Charlie III and Liz Buchanan joined recently. Mrs. Freeman developed Piedmont Riding Center, and is also a landscape artist.
The couple are active members of Ardmore Baptist Church. Charlie enjoys golf and Dot enjoys painting, landscaping. They both enjoy their 2 great-grandchildren, Sawyer Buchanan and Molly Buchanan.
Dot and Charlie met in 1953 while working at Miller & Rhodes Department store in Richmond, VA, and attending VPI (William and Mary).
They were married February 27, 1954.
