Grobe: Takeaways will be key for Deacons

One of the main takeaways from a fourth-straight losing football season at Wake Forest was that the Deacons still aren’t taking the ball away from their opponents enough.

Strides were made last fall when Wake Forest’s 23 takeaways tied for fourth most in the ACC. But to again be a contender for a conference title, Coach Jim Grobe said his team needs to be as aggressive as the glory teams of 2006, 2007 and 2008, when the Deacons ranked second, first and first in the ACC in most fumble recoveries and interceptions.
