For the first time since a less-than-resounding victory over Presbyterian in the season opener, the players who play football for Wake Forest went a week without having to assess the temperature of the fire in their bellies.

"Just every week is a gut check,” Coach Jim Grobe said of his team, which is 3-3 coming off an open date.
