GREENSBORO — North Carolina avoided big trouble on two fronts but couldn’t dodge it on a third Friday night in defeating Florida State 83-62 in an ACC Tournament quarterfinal.
P.J. Hairston, whose 3-point shooting sparked the victory and helped UNC overcome foul trouble on James Michael McAdoo, suffered an injury to his left hand in the webbing between his middle and ring fingers late in the game and needed eight stitches.
