BOONE - Jerry Moore spoke publicly for the first time Wednesday since it was announced Sunday that his contract to coach Appalachian State’s football team would not be renewed.

Moore, who coached the Mountaineers for 24 seasons and whose 242 victories as a college head coach rank No. 15 in NCAA Division I, said that he didn’t want anything he said to be vindictive but that there were some issues he wanted to address. His comments caught the attention of ASU’s administration, which released a statement in response (See box, B4).
