Jerry Moore, who has more victories than any other football coach in Appalachian State University and Southern Conference history, will not return next season as ASU’s coach, Athletics Director Charlie Cobb announced Sunday.

Cobb said a decision was made after the 2011 season — in meetings between him and Moore — that the 2012 season would be Moore’s last. ASU’s season ended Saturday with a 38-37 overtime loss to Illinois State in the second round of the NCAA’s Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.
