Every year, the treasured North Carolina tradition of hunting is spoiled by accidents that maim and kill. We must work harder at preventing them.

In the latest case, a 12-year-old Tarboro boy was killed while hunting with relatives in Wake Forest. He was accidentally shot by his uncle, officials told The Associated Press.
