Recently, I had the opportunity to travel to India for two weeks with some of my colleagues from Winston-Salem State University, as part of a National Endowment for the Humanities-sponsored grant program. As an urban geographer, I was especially interested in learning more about the phenomenal changes occurring in India’s cities – and what we might learn from them right here in the Triad.

India is the world’s largest democracy and the second-largest country by population, with more than 1.2 billion people. Most population projections expect India to overtake China as the largest country in the world by 2050.
