GEMEINHARDT WALNUT COVE Walter Arthur Gemeinhardt Dec. 21, 1942 - Feb. 18, 2014 Walter Arthur Gemeinhardt, 71, died Tuesday morning, February 18, 2014 at his home. He was born December 21, 1942 in Queens, NY to Walter and Lillian McCuster Gemeinhardt. He served his country proudly in the US Navy and served in the Merchant Marines. Walter was a cowboy at heart, loved boating and was the animal cruelty investigator for Stokes County for several years. In honor of his wishes, there will be no formal service. He was preceded in death by his parents. Walter is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dr. Kim D. Gemeinhardt of the home; four children, Mary Toushek, Walter B. Gemeinhardt, Jr., Kathleen Gemeinhardt Gentile and Briged Gemeinhardt, all of NJ; several grandchildren; one sister, Lillian Giannotti of NJ and one brother, Frances Gemeinhardt of NY. The family will receive friends from 3:00-6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 19, 2014 at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Military Working Dogs Fund, ,Save-A-Vet Inc 387 Northgate Rd,. Lindenhurst, IL 60046. Online condolences may be offered at www.burroughsfuneralhome.com Burroughs Funeral Home, Walnut Cove is serving the Gemeinhardt family.

    Kim, I hold you close to my heart as you mourn Walt's passing. As newly acquainted friends, I never had the pleasure of meeting your husband, but because I know YOU, I know he must have been a wonderfully special person. Remember, you have many friends who will be with you in the days and weeks to come.
