SWAIN GERMANTON Susan Denise Willis Swain March 18, 1959 - June 14, 2013 Susan Denise Willis Swain, 54, left this life on Friday June 14, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center after over a year long struggle with cancer. She was born March 18, 1959 in Forsyth County to John D. and Jane Mills Willis. Denise's favorite place was to be at Carolina Beach with her family. She loved being on the beach, particularly early morning walks to find treasures from the sea. The family wishes to have a private family graveside service. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Gray "Sonny" Swain Jr. By one brother, Wendell Willis and one Nephew, Matthew Ashby. She is survived by her four children; Gray Swain, Samantha Swain, Candace Swain and Jonas Swain all of Germanton, parents; John D. and Jane Mills Willis of Walnut Cove, three grandchildren that she adored; Caleb, Izzabella and Jaxson, two special pets; Mr. Wiggles and Buster, three sisters; Jane Jester and husband Charlie of Winston-Salem, Lynne Willis of Carolina Beach and Johann Dixson of Walnut Cove, one close sister-in-law; Nancy Willis, nine nieces and nephews, twelve great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew and many young adults that she cared for, mothered and gave a temporary home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday June 16, 2013 at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at the home of her parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Burroughs Funeral Home to help with burial expenses. It is the families request that if you choose to send flowers please only send living plants that can be planted in her memory.
