The 2013 Atlantic hurricane season should be above average, according to researchers at N.C. State University.

Lian Xie, a professor of marine earth and atmospheric sciences, and other researchers at N.C. State said they forecast that there will be 13 to 17 named storms. This is higher than the average of 10.8 named storms between 1950 and 2012.
