No money in House budget for fracking tests

State House Republican leaders set aside no money in Tuesday’s budget proposal to probe for shale-gas reserves, in contrast to the proposals recently made public by Gov. Pat McCrory and the N.C. Senate.

The governor’s proposed budget includes $500,000 for a state and industry consortium to drill three vertical survey holes in the Sanford sub-basin to test for reserves, the state budget director, Art Pope, said in mid-May.
