Audit finds lax monitoring of workforce numbers

State monitoring of its top incentive tool may have been lax in some cases, with corporations potentially receiving more grant payments than they qualify for, the N.C. State Auditor’s Office said in a report released Monday.

The report reviews the state’s Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) program, the larger of the two main incentive sweeteners that economic officials offer companies planning to open or expand operations in North Carolina.
