RALEIGH — More North Carolina teenagers will have to wait longer to get qualified to vote now that a 2009 law allowing them to pre-register has been repealed.

The elections overhaul law approved by the General Assembly and signed by Gov. Pat McCrory this summer eliminated allowing 16- and 17-year-olds to fill out registration paperwork before they turned 18. Those youths would be automatically registered when they reached the age of eligibility.
