Three senators trying to bring payday lending back to N.C.

GREENSBORO — A bipartisan trio of state senators wants to bring payday lending, outlawed in North Carolina more than a decade ago, back into the state.

Senate Bill 89 authorizes “deferred presentment transactions” up to $500 and allows the lender to charge up to 15 percent in fees.
