RALEIGH — A new transportation funding model that Gov. Pat McCrory says will direct scarce resources to higher-impact projects is making its way through the North Carolina House.
The House Transportation Committee took a first look at the bill Tuesday and unanimously voted to send it to committees that deal with funding. The bill establishes three tiers of projects, with statewide and regional initiatives taking 80 percent of funding. Currently, funding is divided evenly among the state's 14 Department of Transportation divisions.
