State Supreme Court to decide on transparency for private-college campus police

RALEIGH - North Carolina's Supreme Court is considering whether campus police at private colleges who are authorized to use the power of arrest must be as transparent as public agencies.

The high court heard arguments Wednesday in a case involving Elon University that could help define the role of officers who are not entirely public officials yet have arrest authority greater than private employees.
