School lunch prices will increase by 10 cents next school year. The move was approved unanimously, without discussion, by eight members of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Board of Education Tuesday night. Board member Elisabeth Motsinger was not present.

Documents filed with the school board state that the increase is required to comply with federal law. The Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010 requires school food programs to either raise prices or provide non-federal funds to cover the difference in the cost of the charged lunch and the federal reimbursement rate for free lunches.
