Winston-Salem residents and business owners gave their feedback — some favorable and some not so favorable — on Wednesday about a proposed downtown business improvement district.
Under the proposal, property owners in the district would be taxed 9 cents for every $100 of taxable property. The money raised would be used for community improvement projects such as cleaning, safety patrols and recruiting businesses to the area.
