When Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school officials turned down a grant that would bring additional Advanced Placement classes to as many as four local high schools, they did so with the intention of preserving Career Center programs.

But the move has angered some teachers, parents and students who are saying the board turned down a good opportunity that would allow more students to take the college-level courses.
