More commute further to work, census figures show

    The latest estimates showed 57,000 workers commute in from other counties, with 32,000 leaving Forsyth. Guilford County was the top destination for Forsyth commuters, with 60 percent of the total going to Guilford.

More people in Forsyth County and the surrounding area are commuting to other counties to their jobs, new figures from the U.S. Census Bureau suggest.

One geographer said the trend is a result of job losses among people who live in counties on the fringes of the Triad’s major urban cores.
