A long wait in legal limbo is over for Manny Llamas and Charles Banks III, a gay married couple living in Winston-Salem.

Llamas, a Guatemalan citizen who had faced deportation last year, is now eligible to apply for what is commonly known as a “green card,” or permanent resident status – something he could not do before the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision Wednesday that the federal Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional.
