The N.C. Department of Transportation is encouraging commuters to Share the Ride by using carpools or vanpools, walking running or using mass transit.

Department officials said that by sharing a ride, there will be fewer cars on the road, and that will reduce congestion, harmful emissions and road wear. Commuters will save money and reduce stress.
