A Winston-Salem man who was seriously injured in a shootout with Davidson County Sheriff’s deputies last week was identified Monday and is facing several charges, including six counts of attempted murder.

The shooting happened Thursday morning after deputies responded to a tip about a home invasion at a mobile home park at 224 North Pointe Drive, off N.C. 150 north of Lexington. When deputies arrived, Jerome David Poole, 25, opened fire at them, hitting Deputy Charles Goforth in the foot, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
