Friday the 13th is supposed to be unlucky, but it wasn’t for people in Winston-Salem on the receiving end of an act of kindness.

Jerry McLeese and other volunteers patrolled the streets of Winston-Salem on Friday, putting quarters in slots where the time on parking meters had expired. On each car’s windshield, he left a little card mentioning Compassionate Winston-Salem, the group sponsoring the event.
