State House bill would make pink DACA licenses look like everyone else’s

A group of House Democrats filed a bill today that would stop the state Department of Transportation from issuing specially designed licenses with a pink strip that clearly distinguishes immigrants who qualify for a federal program that grants a two-year reprieve from deportation.

A license “of limited duration granted to a beneficiary of the federal DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) initiative shall not be distinguishable in any manner from other licenses issued pursuant to this subsection,” says House Bill 184, titled Allow Drivers Licenses for DACA Beneficiaries.
