Tax officials say property owners can file informal appeals until March 12, and the formal appeals process is an option people can use by meeting a June 28 deadline. County tax appraisers didn’t include foreclosure sales when they went through Forsyth County neighborhoods looking for the value of houses in 2013.
But it’s clear that foreclosures have been a drag on the housing market, especially in lower-income neighborhoods where people have been hit hardest by the Great Recession.
