Ashley Furniture’s new distribution will add more than 1 million square feet to the existing facility. The project is behind schedule because of weather but company leaders expect it to be done by October.

ADVANCE — Officials with Ashley Furniture Industries told area government and business leaders recently that they expect the company’s new 1.1-million-square foot distribution center to be ready in October.
The much-ballyhooed project, seen by many in Davie County as a catalyst for future growth, has been beset by a series of problems, including the discovery of wetlands that required mitigation and an abundance of rain in the summer and snow and ice in the winter that made a mockery of the construction schedule.
