UPDATE: New owner of Furniture Brands steps up pace of getting rid of unwanted properties

The new owner of Furniture Brands International Inc. is accelerating the pace at which it is disposing of unwanted Triad and North Carolina assets in the defunct company.

Heritage Home Group LLC filed a WARN Act notice last week with the N.C. Commerce Department, stating its plans to close its Pearson Co. operations in High Point by Aug. 30, eliminating 86 jobs.
